macht.sprache. helps you handle the challenges of politically sensitive language in English and German. The macht.sprache. database is unique in that it is crowd sourced by the community of users. The database powers the Text Checker as well as an extension for Chrome and Firefox hooking into DeepL and Google Translate.
We founded the project 2021 with four people: Lucy Gasser, Anna von Rath, Kolja Lange and me. I organized the initial funding by the Prototype Fund, designed the interface of the App and lead the frontend development. We got rewarded with more funding by the Senate Department for Culture and Europe Berlin and the Wikimedia Unlock program. We also got awarded with the Deep Tech Award of the Berlin Senate.
